Bye bye daddy

Yesterday was an awesome day! We had a great breakfast cooked by Ana, our wonderful hostess. Then we went into Jaco and went shopping for souvenirs and had lunch with a friend mommy and daddy met. At the cafe, it was so cool because the seats were swings.

After lunch, we went on the Tarcoles river crocodile tour. We saw all kinds of birds and lizards, but best of all, tons of crocs. We couldn't believe it when our guide got out of the boat and held up chickens for the crocodiles to eat out of his hand. It was amazing (and a little scary). I definitely don't want that guy's job.

For dinner, dad cooked sea bass at the outdoor kitchen by the pool. Ana and her niece, Giselle, joined us as well. Even though it started raining and we couldn't swim, it was still so much fun.

This morning it's another great breakfast, swimming and hiking behind our hotel, and lunch in Jaco. Then we are leaving for San Jose to drop daddy off and pick up Shelly. But first, we'll have dinner at mom's Spanish teacher's house with her family. That will be fun to play with her kids. Then one night in San Jose and we leave in the morning for Tortuguero and dad leaves for home. We'll miss him, but we're not quite done with our adventure yet.

That's all for now - we'll say hi to the sea turtles for you!

Tambor, Montezuma and Jaco

Boy we've been busy the last few days. We were at the resort in Tambor trying to do all the activities and wore ourselves out. We pretty much were in bed each night by 9:00, which meant we were pretty much awake at 4 am, which meant we were in bed by 9:00....We decided to leave there a day early so we could relax.

We went back to Montezuma. It's mom and dad's favorite place so far. We got to go see our friend 'amigo' and play with him some more. We played Ya Pescado (go fish) and ran around with the walkie talkies. Then we hiked a bit and saw a beautiful waterfall. It was a great day. We stayed in town and went to movie night at our hotel. One funny thing that happened (mom didn't think it was so funny) was that we took our laundry to a lady to wash, and she gave the bag with hers and our clothes to someone else and gave us the wrong bag back. We thought we were going to spend the rest of our trip in the same clothes every day. It got straightened out, though, and we didn't get to go shopping!

Yesterday we took the boat taxi back to Herradura beach. It was so awesome! We saw tons of dolphins swimming with us. They were everywhere. It was a great start to a great day. We got to our hotel and we love it. It's a beautiful B&B between Jaco and Herradura. They have an awesome pool, beautiful rooms, and lots of games upfront. We ordered dinner in because we didn't want to leave here.

Cannon and London's favorite - playing with amigo again and seeing the dolphins
Daddy's favorite - Letting London drive the golf cart and London saying "This is the best day of my life"!

Cannon the vegetarian??

How do you get to be my kid and not know where your food comes from? I swear I have told him before. Tonight, while eating a steak, somehow the conversation turned to the food chain. After explaining the concept, Cannon refused the rest of his steak and decided to become a vegetarian.

I should have known this was coming when last week he refused to go on a deep sea fishing trip because he was sad for the fish. With tears!

Michael tried to reason with him about eating meat from a cow, saying that "this morning you thought they were delicious." He's not having it.

I guess we'll just support him on this one...

Ok, he just asked if anything in our hotel room is from an animal, like the feathers in the pillows...Wow! Totally my kid!

So much to tell...

It's not always easy to get internet here, so we have to save up our stories. The rest of the time we spent at the condo in Herradura was fun and relaxing. Dad cooked dinners (including lobster tacos) and we made movies, we got to drive the golf cart, we checked out the local scene and the farmers market, and we got to go to the resort's kid club and play.

Then one morning we took a taxi boat to the Nicoya Peninsula. What an adventure! After an hour and a few times getting soaked, we landed in a small town called Moontezuma. We stayed in a bungalow hotel room under the mango trees. There were tons of monkeys everywhere. We swam in the pool and met our new friend, amigo. He came to our room and played afterward too. We had some of the best food yet in Montezuma, including a dinner right on the beach. The tables were made from trees and the floor was sand. It was one of the coolest things we have done so far. Montezuma is tiny, so no need to stay long.

Yesterday, we took a taxi over to Tambor, about 20 km away. We are staying for a few days at the Barcelo Tambor all inclusive resort. There is tons to do here, including swim, tennis, ping pong, kids club, playground, butterfly garden, and much more. This place is going to be so fun!

Mom's favorite - 10 minute conversation with dad about whether it was Friday or Saturday, dinner on the beach, and listening to the kids speak Spanish with their new friend.

Our new joke: Why did the chicken cross the road? So Cannon wouldn't hit him with a golf cart

Manuel Antonio

We had so much fun in Manuel Antonio!! La Posada was an awesome place, small enough that we could run around and come back when mom and dad called us on the walkie talkies. We were a couple of minutes walk to the beach and right next door to the biggest park in Costa Rica. We met some friends, Sean and Olivia, and went swimming and to dinner with them. We made a new best friend - Blanquita. She was the cutest dog and LOVED pepperoni. Dad said he wanted a dog just like her.

We went into the park on Tuesday and pooped out early on our hike. Mom brought us back to the hotel for a swim and dad kept hiking. Later on, though, we went in the exit of the park and got to see the beaches without all that hiking. We swam in the tide pools and in the lagoon. I called it the "blue lagoon" and mom said she didn't think Brooke Shields would be there, whatever that means. Dad was clearly disappointed.

Wednesday was mom's birthday. We hung around our hotel and swam in the morning and after lunch got a ride to Herradura beach, which is north near Jaco. We got a 2 bedroom condo and it has an awesome pool. It is also across the street from a resort that we can use. We use our golf cart to get there. We had a great birthday dinner for mom at the resort's marina and got to pick out the boats we want.

Cannon's favorite part - playing with friends
London's favorite part - everything (but mostly standing with daddy letting the waves hit us)

The adventure begins!

Day 1 in Costa Rica
We went to InBio park In San Jose and saw 3 different kinds of forests, a mariposa (butterfly)garden, petting zoo and much more! We barely escaped being pooped on by a huge iguana in the trees.
London's favorite part of today - the turtles
Cannon's favorite - the mariposa garden

Day 2
We took a morning drive and got to the beach by lunchtime. Our resort is small, with thatched roof bungalows and is next door to Manuel Antonio national park and a few minutes walk to the beach. After we got here, the monkeys came to greet us. There were so many and even a mama with her baby on her back. We even got to feed them bananas. This is the coolest place ever!
London's favorite- getting a ring made from a coconut
Cannon's favorite - feeding the cara blanco monkeys

Tomorrow's the big day!

We are busy getting ready today for tomorrow's travel. We got our new beach sandals yesterday and are ready to test them out. Mom says that when we get to Costa Rica, we are going to get animal identification cards and will get to look for all the animals on our trip.We also each got a camera (thanks to Bah Bah and Go Go!) to take pictures of all the animals we see. Then, when we get back home, we'll make a journal of all our pictures. We'll get so many points at the nature exchange!!

We are so excited to go on a plane tomorrow. We are already fighting about who gets the window seat!

Pura Vida,
